Hiking in the Krimmler Achental Valley

There are alpine pastures in the Krimmler Achental Valley, a high valley of the Hohe Tauern National Parc, since the Middle Ages. Cattle, sheep, horses and goats are put out to pasture. Cheese, butter and milk are high quality natural products, which can be tasted there.


Lower Krimml Waterfall

Lower Krimml Waterfall (1040 m above the sea level)
The Krimmler Ache is coming down the Lower waterfall consisting of two steps with a total height of more than 140 m. Natural seating at Kürsingerplatz available (climatic spa). 
Walking distance from Krimml:  20 minutes.
Directions: Follow the sightseeing path to the Krimml Waterfalls until you get to Hanke´s Cafe Restaurant. From there 2 minutes walking distance to Kürsinger Platz - Lower Krimml Waterfall. The sightseeing path is in a very good condition (path charge OeAV Sektion Warnsdorf/ Krimml). 


Middle Krimml Waterfall - Gasthof Schönangerl

Middle Krimml Waterfall - Schönangerl (1306 m above sea level)
Wonderful viewpoint into the Salzachtal Valley, to the Topmost Krimml Waterfall and to the village Krimml. At Schönangerboden there is an inn called Gasthof Schönangerl.
Walking distance from Krimml: 45 minutes
Directions: Follow the sightseeing path to the Krimml Waterfalls until you get to Hanke´s Cafe Restaurant. From there the waterfall path takes you to the Middle Waterfall (Schönangerlboden) and offers spectacular views of the thundering water masses. The sightseeing path is in a very good condition - steeply increasing (path charge OeAV Sektion Warnsdorf/ Krimml).


Topmost Krimml Waterfall

Topmost Krimml Waterfall - entrance into Krimml Achental Vallea (1460m above sea level)
Wonderful viewpoint into the Salzachtal Valley,  to the Topmost Krimml Waterfall and to the village Krimml, entrance to the Krimml Achental Valley.
Walking distance from Krimml:  1 hour 15 minutes
Directions:  Follow the sightseeing path to the Krimml Waterfalls until you get to Hanke´s Cafe Restaurant. Veitn Alm (1583 m above sea level)
Alpine station happily situated in the lower section of the Krimml Achental Valley.
Walking distance from Krimml: 2 hours.
Directions: Via the 3 steps of the Krimml Waterfalls ( 1 1/2 hours) you will get to the Krimml Achental Valley. From the entrance of Krimml Achental Valley on gently inclined crushed stone road to Veitn Alm.


Hölzlahneralm

Hölzlahneralm (1583 m above sea level)
Alpine station happily situated in the lower section of the Krimml Achental Valley. 
Walking distance from Krimml: 2 hours
Directions: Via the 3 steps of the Krimml Waterfalls ( 1 1/2 hours) you will get to the Krimml Achental Valley. From the entrance of Krimml Achental Valley on gently inclined crushed stone road to Hölzlahneralm (via Veitnalm).


Söllen Alm

Söllen Alm (1585 m above sea level)
Rustic alpine station in the Krimml Achental Valley with view to the glacier at Krimmler Kees. 
Walking distance from Krimml:  2 1/2 hours
Directions: Via the 3 steps of the Krimml Waterfalls ( 1 1/2 hours) you will get to the Krimml Achental Valley. From the entrance of Krimml Achental Valley on gently inclined crushed stone road to Söllenalm (via Veitnalm and Hölzlahneralm).


Krimmler Tauernhaus

Krimmler Tauernhaus (1631 m above sea level)
Traditional alpine inn with home-style cooking and starting point for mountain hikes.  Landlord Friedl Geisler and landlady Gundi Geisler ensure your well-beeing.
Walking distance from Krimml:  3 hours.
You can take the taxi of the Geisler family - Krimmler Tauernhaus.
Directions: Via the 3 steps of the Krimml Waterfalls ( 1 1/2 hours) you will get to the Krimml Achental Valley. From the entrance of Krimml Achental Valley on gently inclined crushed stone road to Krimmler Tauernhaus (via Veitnalm, Hölzlahneralm and Söllnalm) -open all year round.


Richterhütte

Richter Hütte ÖAV (2374 m above sea level)
Alpine inn with numerous possibilities for hillwalks (Reichenspitze, 3.302m, Richterspitze, 3.054m, Spaten, 2.956m, Zillerplattenspitze, 3.147m, Zillerspitze, 3.091m, Südliche Schwarze Wand, 3.045m)
Walking distance from Krimml: 5 1/2 hours.
Directions:  Via the 3 steps of the Krimml Waterfalls ( 1 1/2 hours) you will get to the Krimml Achental Valley. From the entrance of Krimml Achental Valley on gently inclined crushed stone road to Krimmler Tauernhaus (via Veitnalm, Hölzlahneralm and Söllnalm). From there via Rainbachtal Valley, a side valley of the Krimml Achental Valley, ascent to  Richterhütte ( 2 1/2 hours). Open from middle of June to September (depends on the weather).

Warnsdorferhütte

Warnsdorfer Hütte ÖAV (2336 m above sea level)
Alpine inn with numerous possibilities for hillwalks (Maurerkeesköpfe, 3.313m, Großer Geiger, 3.360m, Schlieferspitze, 3.289m, Gamsspitzl, 2.888m, Hoher Sonntagskopf)
Walking distance from Krimml: 6 1/2 hours
Directions:   Via the 3 steps of the Krimml Waterfalls ( 1 1/2 hours) you will get to the Krimml Achental Valley. From the entrance of Krimml Achental Valley on gently inclined crushed stone road to Krimmler Tauernhaus (via Veitnalm, Hölzlahneralm and Söllnalm). From there to Innerkeesalm (1 hour),  ascent to Warnsdorferhütte ( 2 hours). Open from June to October - depends on the weather.
